The Minnesota Lavender Bar Association’s annual conference, Regional Lavender Law, each year delivers critical information, and provides for invaluable networking, for attorneys and law students committed to exploring the legal issues surrounding sexual orientation and gender identity.
The 2009 Regional Lavender Law conference promises to carry on this tradition with a program of unprecedented scope. This year’s event features three plenary speakers:
In addition, the conference will feature eight break-out sessions in the morning and afternoon addressing issues including:
* Legal developments regarding assisted-reproduction technology
* Minnesota’s new “transfer on death” deeds
* Advising same-sex couples facing foreclosure
* Cognitive bias in sexual orientation/gender identity discrimination cases
* Recent changes to the ADA affecting people with HIV/AIDS
* MSBA efforts to eliminate bias in the legal profession
* Collaborative law
* Public policy plans for the 2009 Minnesota Legislature
We also look forward to a return of last year’s popular lunchtime networking event, coordinated by Thomson-Reuters!
