Duties include: 1. Meticulously maintain legal case files (opening, maintaining, closing and archiving).
2. Assist with drafting documents including HIV Waivers and Estate Planning documents.
3. Prepare, process and maintain social security files.
4. Coordinate monthly advice clinics.
5. Collect and prepare funding reports.
6. Perform internet and other factual research for potential cases.
7. Handle all routine correspondence for the legal program
8. Process legal intake requests, make follow-up phone calls, respond to requests for legal assistance.
9. Field telephone calls relating to the legal program.
10. Assist with recruiting, supervision, scheduling and evaluation of legal volunteers.
11. Perform other duties as assigned by the Legal Services Manager.
Qualifications:
* Paralegal certificate and/or prior experience as paralegal required
* Demonstrated experience file preparation and document management
* Strong computer skills in Windows XP environment, Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to promote an efficient, streamlined office environment
* Excellent telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
* High level of motivation with superb attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
* Experience with HIV, HIV services, or social security is a plus. Compensation: * Salary $30,000 – 35,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
