Title: Assistant Director for Student Affairs and Student Life Department: Dean of Students Reports To: Dean of Student Affairs and Student Life
The primary purposes of the Assistant Director are: 1) to provide academic advising to students including knowledge of courses as they relate to sequencing within the law school, their relevance to the practice of law and to the individual student’s career and professional aspirations; 2) assists the Dean of Student Affairs and Student Life in executing a student life program that both challenges and supports students, and cultivates a sense of community within the student body; and 3) works with students entitled to receive accommodations under the American with Disabilities Act including intake interviews, accommodations, and assistance in demonstrating accommodation needs for bar examinations. In addition, the person in this position will partner with the Dean of Student Affairs and Student Life in the development and execution of first year law student transition programming and will act as an advisor to the Student Bar Association (student government) and associated student groups.
Qualifications: J.D is required. Admission to the bar preferred. A specific undergraduate or graduate field is not required, although evidence of education or experience in human/student development, counseling, coaching, or related field is preferred. Ability to manage several major responsibilities is required. Three (3) years of work experience is required; five (5) or more years preferred. Some evening and weekend work required on a weekly basis.
