Hamline University seeks a full-time tenure-track undergraduate Criminal Justice faculty member to teach in its interdisciplinary program within the College of Liberal Arts beginning in the fall of 2009. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in criminal justice, sociology, public administration or a related social science discipline. Candidates with a J.D. may also be considered, especially those with more extensive criminal justice experience.
University-level teaching and professional experience within criminal justice are highly desirable of all candidates. The person chosen to fill this position will have the ability to teach a range of criminal justice courses, including introductory criminal justice and others within the program, and the ability to supervise internships as part of a capstone experience.
This tenure-track, assistant professorship includes a normal teaching load of six courses per year, which is determined in consultation with the program director. The successful candidate will be expected to have an active scholarly or research agenda and contribute to the college, university and the profession.
Candidates must have a commitment to the idea of a broad liberal arts and interdisciplinary education and collaborative research with students. Hamline seeks candidates with demonstrated knowledge, competencies and experience in teaching, advising, and mentoring students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
