Wu to speak at annual pre-Lav Law student event

Please join MLBA's law students as they welcome Janson Wu, attorney with Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders, a special guest for the 2009 Lavender Law conference, as he shares updates on law-student activism and advocacy in New England, as well as thoughts about possible new initiatives in Minnesota!

The annual pre-Lav Law student event will once again be generously hosted by the University of St. Thomas Law School OutLaw group the evening of Friday, January 30, the night before the conference (see below).  Taking place in the board room overlooking the beautiful Atrium at UST Law, the event will be informal, beginning at 6:30pm and featuring light refreshments.  As in past years, we look forward to seeing students from each of Minnesota's four law schools - though, as always, all MLBA members and their guests are welcome!

There is no cost to attend, but an RSVP note to events@mnlavbar.org would be appreciated to guarantee sufficient refreshments and space.

Save the date – January 31, 2009!

As the Minnesota Lavender Bar Association enters its tenth year, we are very pleased to welcome to this year’s Regional Lavender Law conference Eric Magnuson, Chief Justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, (pictured at left) as one of several engaging and informative speakers! Mark the date on your calendar and make plans to attend this conference – which, as in previous years, promises to be part CLE, part family reunion. Registration information will be available later – watch your mailbox!

Please note: Regional Lavender Law is free to law students!

“Advertising” opportunities in the MLBA newsletter!

Looking for a chance to get word out to MLBA members and friends? At its June meeting, the MLBA Board approved an advertising” policy for use on a trial (six-month) basis. For now, the policy contemplates free announcements of such things as job openings, available office space, and other law-related matters other than simple advertisements of services. This opportunity is available to MLBA members only. For more information click here: http://www.mnlavbar.org/membership.htm
