Phil Duran and Kelly McCormick have announced their resignation from the MLBA Board which became effective October 13, 2009. For the past 10 years, Phil Duran has played an integral part in making the MLBA into the organization it is today. His steadfast commitment has assisted the MBLA in forging a strong relationship with the Minnesota State Bar Association and achieving voting member status. We look forward to working with him as he remains an active member of the MLBA. Kelly McCormick has been a valued member of the MLBA Board this past year. She has graciously given her time and resources to assist the MLBA in achieving its goals and her presence on the Board will be greatly missed. We wish her the best of luck as she moves forward in her new career with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

QUATREFOIL AND MN GAY AND LESBIAN HISTORY BOOKS NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
This past September, many helped commemorate the publishing of two GLBT books detailing the history of GLBT legal assistance in Minnesota and also the history surrounding the beginnings of the Quatrefoil library. The History of the Quatrefoil Library can now either be purchased at Quatrefoil Library or downloaded for free on http://qlibrary.org/about/QUATRE_FINAL_E-BOOK.pdf
The History of the MN Gay and Lesbian Legal Assistance will likely be available soon and will be made available at that time.
A special note about Dan Hanson We are very sad to report the recent passing of Dan Hanson, one of the authors of the History of the Quatrefoil and a founding member of Quatrefoil Library. Dan was very active in the GLBT community and served on the Quatrefoil Board of Directors. Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

INNOCENCE PROJECT OF MINNESOTA TO HIRE TWO ATTORNEYS
The Innocence Project of Minnesota has received federal funding for one part time and one full time temporary attorney positions.
The Innocence Project of Minnesota (IPMN) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to keep innocent people from being convicted and to free people imprisoned for crimes they didn’t commit. IPMN provides investigative assistance, DNA testing and litigation services to inmates who claim actual innocence. We also work to prevent future wrongful convictions by educating the community at-large regarding wrongful convictions, training the next generation of lawyers to avoid conviction of the innocent and advocating for public policy changes to improve judicial processes.
Full Time Attorney: The full-time attorney will be primarily responsible for IPMN’s participation in a federal grant program that will allow us to pursue systematic DNA testing on behalf of the wrongfully convicted. The purpose of the grant is to provide funding for systematic DNA testing for all appropriate cases in the state of Minnesota where current DNA technology was unavailable at the time of conviction. IPMN will pursue this goal in cooperation with several partner organizations. Part Time Attorney: The part-time attorney will be primarily responsible for litigating cases in which an incarcerated individual is claiming actual innocence and evidence of innocence can be found. Most of the cases that this attorney will work on will not involve DNA. They may involve complex issues of forensic science. The position is being funded through a federal grant. The purpose of the grant is to litigate a small backlog of cases that present issues of factual innocence and to investigate and litigate new incoming cases where evidence of innocence can be developed in a timely manner. To apply send resume, references and cover letter to: Innocence Project of Minnesota Attn: Julie Jonas 1536 Hewitt Ave Mail Stop#D2205 St. Paul, MN 55104-1284
