A TRAINING PROGRAM FOR CHILD ADVOCATES

PRO BONO OPPORTUNITY

As a pro bono lawyer, you will represent the child in court, make motions, file legal pleadings, identify and obtain appropriate services, and negotiate settlements. Once you take a case, CLC staff attorneys and social worker will consult with you on legal strategies, substantive and procedural issues, give guidance and information about resources and help you to assess the child’s development and education needs.

An updated training for new and current volunteer attorneys, judges, county attorneys, public defenders, social workers and other child advocates.

7.0 CLE credits. (5 Standard, 1 Ethics, & 1 Elimination of Bias)

Designed to meet the Board of Social Work requirements for CEH.

Breakfast, lunch, and a snack are included in the registration fee.

Please Note:

If you wish to become a pro bono attorney for CLC, you must attend this training program. In order to process your application, we must receive a separate $15.00 check for a criminal background check.

Refund Policy: If notice of cancellation is received at least 72 hours prior to the program, a full refund minus a $25.00 administration fee will be given. Any requests received after that time will be given credit for a future CLC seminar (less the $25.00 administration fee).

From I-94 West: Take the ramp on the left onto I-94 W ,Take exit 233A to merge onto S 11th St. Turn right at 3rd Ave S. Turn right to stay on 3rd Ave S. Turn left at 5th St S.

From I-94 East : Take exit 230 for 4th St N toward 7th St N/State Hwy 55. Slight left at N 4th St (signs for 4th St N). Turn right at 2nd Ave S. Turn right at 5th St S

From I-394 East: Merge onto I-394 E. Exit onto 4th St N. Turn right at 2nd Ave S. Turn right at 5th St S.

From 1-35W South; Head southwest on I-35W S toward MN-36 W. Take exit 18 for 4th St SE toward University Ave. Turn right at 4th St SE (signs for 4th St SE). Turn left at Central Ave SE/MN-65. Continue on 3rd Ave S. Turn right at 5th St S.

PARKING: Visitors to Leonard, Street & Deinard should first proceed to the Fifth Street Towers’ 150 Tower parking ramp (accessed from 2nd Avenue). Upon entering the ramp, proceed to the Leonard, Street and Deinard reserved parking stalls. They are the first 3 stalls after you enter the ramp. If the reserved spots are full, the parking attendant will help you locate a vacant spot. If the 150 Tower ramp is full, proceed to the Fifth Street Towers’ 100 Tower ramp (accessed from Marquette Avenue).
